The California Times is seeking experienced candidates for editing positions on the Arts and Entertainment staff.
The Los Angeles Times is looking for a Music editor.
The editor will be responsible for overseeing coverage at every level, including reviews, breaking news stories, obituaries, industry trends, festivals and award shows. Los Angeles is the center of the music industry, and ideal candidates will be full of ideas about covering the music scene from such an optimal perch; have a demonstrated knack for identifying breakout stars early and often; be curious about how music intermingles with film, television and other art forms we cover; and excited to work with other editors on packages and features. The Times is a multiplatform news organization and the music team is expected to engage in print, online, at live events, in podcasts and on television.
Candidates must have 10 or more years of experience covering the music industry, at least five years of management experience and a deep understanding of the local music scene.
This position is included in the Los Angeles Times Guild.
Please send a resume, cover letter and three links to stories you edited to deputy managing editor Julia Turner at email@example.com.
